This rocks! I can't believe I've missed this up to now (or is this new?). Is this story true, or do people just tell it (I mean is part of the canonical history of Alsu-Eru)?
A few points I'd make: Usually legend is before myth in that kind of phrase. Myths tend to be farther back, and taken less seriously (by the time they're called myth, rather than religion). We have legends about King Arthur, Charlemagne, and Robin Hood. We have myths about Heracles and Perseus.
"The Ancients knew the laws of physics and the rules of mechanics." Mechanics of what?
"It was then that they realized their err" Their error. Err is the verb form.
It seems like more of a punishment than a blessing (for the ancients). To be locked in a palace and live forever? Bum deal. --Phoenix 14:03, 20 April 2008 (EDT)
- Thanks for the pointing of the typo - it was meant to be error, just bad typing on my part. The sentence about physics and mechanics is perhaps a bit clumsy - it's meant to imply that the Ancients used a more "modern" form of technology than what is used in the present day. Perhaps "mechanics" should be changed to "technology?" Also, good point about the myth and legend, I'll fix some of those. And finally, it is absolutely (mostly) a punishment, but only to those being punished. To Aune, she believed wholeheartedly that she was saving these people... think of it the same way as people today who leave their loved ones on assisted living, even though they know those loved ones would prefer to die naturally? However, even though it is meant to be myth, there is definitely some truth to the story, and the Ancients may have some parts to play in campaigns in the future. --Ishmayl
