Server Issues

Update - August 12, 2010:If anyone has extended problems throughout the day in getting to the site, please send an email at fallen_ishmayl(AT)yahoo.com. I am unable to frequent the site during the day from work, but I do have email access, and can get the server reset if there are problems. We are currently trying to find out what the issue is with the server, and what we can do to fix it, so please be patient. Thanks! As anyone who's been around the site the past couple of weeks knows, the server has been having some issues. I've taken some steps to try to correct the problem, but it may still be an ongoing issue. Please post in this thread with any problems you encounter: URLI'm hoping to get this sorted out as soon as possible, as obviously seeing error 500s and mysql connection errors isn't a good way to get advice on your campaign setting.

Turtles, Marriage, and Bedouin Newscasters

I talked with ishy about how he's been busy and looked like he could use some help keeping things going. So then I have volunteered to keep the news running on a regular basis so that he can devote more time to his busy schedule. On that note if you have an upcoming event (no-stats theater, setting questionnaire, etc) please send me a PM at least a couple days in advance so that I can put up a news announcement. But enough about me, we've had something very cool happen here. Our very own Snargash Moonclaw has gotten married! This is something exciting and I believe worthy of congratulations to the happy couple. Best of luck to the both of them.-Nomadic

Roundup Time Again! and VOTE FOR THE GUILDIES

UPDATE: August 4, 2009Sparkletwist is now taking votes for the 2009 Guildies. Make sure you read the thread and vote for the person who deserves it most!/UPDATEIt's been awhile since I've posted anything interested, so I thought I'd point you fine folks to some great threads around the site.First of all, for those of you who have not yet seen what's going on with the Consulting Project, I highly recommend you check out the thread and sign your project up. This is one of the best ideas in awhile we've seen for getting the community together on individual projects, and you don't want to miss out! Next we have a new series by Polycarp called Topic of the Fortnight Club where we will discuss specific ideas to adding flavor to your setting or world. This fortnight (which, as Polycarp so generously informs us of, is a 2-week period, so you have until August 16th to get involved with this one), we will discuss Festivals and Celebrations in the world. Another series (hopefully regular) project getting started is Phoenix' Friday Forum Philosophy--Theories of Setting Design, which will attempt to discuss various design philosophies for settings and worlds. Currently going on is "The Cost of Magic," and the discussion is already booming, so hop in before you miss the boat.Though the next item is not a series or regular post per se, Jaerc has given us a nice tid-bit to discuss about the theory of worldbuilding, where you can discuss the differences between "setting" and "roleplaying."Next, Cataclysmic Crow has started a thread that seriously should have been started by an admin eons ago (but we're all lazy), for getting a census of all the currently updated settings on the site. If you're still working on your setting, get it on the list. Finally, Gamer Printshop has informed us that at the Cartographers Guild, there is currently a contest to create a map for a soon-to-be published setting. If you have the skills and the talents, head on over to our sister (brother?) site and get involved. That's it for now, see you around. Don't forget to drop into the IRC Chatroom sometime for some live discussion.Cheers!-Ish
